The Four Days of the Universiade, the large-scale exercises that are conducted in Kazan will help all services function at the Games time seamlessly, as a single mechanism. All the shortcomings revealed over these 4 days should be done away with, Mayor of Tatarstan's capital Ilsur Metshin underlined at today's Monday business meeting.
The Universiade Flame, the main symbol of the World University Games, drew yet closer to Kazan when it arrived in Orenburg on June 16. The Torch Relay in Orenburg was notable for the scale of the event, with 120 Torchbearers carrying the Flame a total of 32,000 metres through the streets and squares of this student centre.
Kazan 2013 volunteers have vast experience of working at major international competitions – Winter and Summer Universiades, world championships which were staged in Europe and Asia, as well as the London 2012 Olympic Games. 4,000 volunteers had their skills tested at international sporting events held at Kazan's competition venues in the build-up to the Games.
