Russian fans spare no effort to support the national team.
True sports battles will take place among the renowned divers from Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Germany at the Aquatics Palace, Kazan. On 6, 7 and 8 December, the strongest athletes will compete for medals in 3m springboard and 10m platform, individuals and synchronized diving, at the traditional Match of 4 Countries.
30 November will be the last day to submit applications for the contest for design of the mascot for the 16th FINA World Championships that will be held in Kazan from 24 July to 9 August 2015. Recall that the contest winners will be awarded with a pass for the entire sports programme of the forthcoming competitions.
At the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, a solemn awards ceremony was held for the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate staff who had made a significant contribution to the preparation and staging of the 27th Summer Universiade. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the relevant ministry, the awards were presented by Rafis Burganov, Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of Tatarstan, member of the Organising Committee for the Preparation and Staging of the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan.
The final day of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championship in Kazan was highlighted with 6 national junior records and one national senior record set by Moscow's Svetlana Chimrova in the women's 100m butterfly event - 57.35. The silver medal in the same event went to Daria Tsvetkova of the Altai Krai (58.49), with Alina Kashinskaya of the Sverdlovsk Oblast claiming bronze (59.13).
The fourth day of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championship, which takes place these days in Kazan, started with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the plane crash at the airport in Kazan. The victory ceremonies, the entertainment programme that usually accompanies the competitions, and the background music played during the heats were cancelled today.
